We make our ice cream ourselves: up to 50 flavours in summer, natural and free of additives. Our cakes and gateaux are made in the house too. And then coffee, chai, bubble tea and a good deal more — a few steps from the pilgrimage basilica.

The house
The Linde has stood on the Plan for 110 years
On the old photograph the name already stands above the door: Café Linde, and below it the line Feinbäckerei · Lebensmittel. Next door the Gasthaus zum Hirsch, in front of it a square full of cars — the Plan was the centre of town then as it is now.
What has stayed is the location: a few steps to the pilgrimage basilica, in the middle of town, with parking within walking distance. Anyone coming for the pilgrimage walks past us anyway.

BakdashIn the Suq al-Hamidiya, the bazaar in Damascus, there is a shop called Bakdash. It has been in the same family since 1895 and is one of the oldest in the whole of the Orient. Its special ingredients: mastic — one of the most expensive spices in the world, a particular tree resin — and salep, dried orchid root.
